My musical career began early on, but on the wrong instrument! I started on guitar after I was gifted one as a Christmas present. My love for music grew in high school and I subsequently enrolled in the Berkeley Jazz School (in Berkeley, CA – not Boston!) to study under Steve Erquiaga and Mimi Fox. There, I studied the jazz piano greats for inspiration and fell in love with the expressive possibilities of the instrument. I took some time off music school to focus on a different degree and relocated to Seattle, WA. In the Pacific Northwest, I fronted the band Half Kingdom and played synths and sang on stage, releasing a few EPs in the process.
From there, I moved to Germany to prepare for an eventual PhD in philosophy. While working on that degree in Chicago, I re-dedicated myself to classical piano under Mark Valenti and worked on Bach and Debussy. In 2020-21, I released two albums under my Age Group moniker.
In 2021, I moved back to my home, Los Angeles, and focused on live performance. The Hammond organ has become a trusty companion for me across countless gigs as I’ve steeped myself into LA’s thriving rock community. From big stages to tiny clubs, I’ve brought searing solos and captivating performances to hundreds of audiences. I’m never happier than when I’m on stage!
